In the ctrlX app, a commission is charged for creating a stream. The commission rates are provided below:

Stream amount
Service fee

5 MATIC ≤ amount ≤ 20 MATIC

7%

20 MATIC < amount < 50 MATIC

2%

amount ≥ 50 MATIC

1%

We charge a commission to protect users in situations where a stream is cancelled or funds are withdrawn. Since there is an internal commission in the blockchain to cover transaction costs, commonly referred to as “gas”, you cannot cancel a stream or withdraw funds if your balance isn’t sufficient to cover the transaction (gas). To address this, we’ve implemented the following mechanism:

When creating a stream, the user pays a commission. Of this amount, 0.15 MATIC is automatically refunded to the sender's account. This ensures that the sender can cancel the stream at any time, even if they’ve sent all their funds to the recipient. Additionally, 0.15 MATIC is automatically credited to the recipient's account, enabling at least one withdrawal.

Consequently, the sender covers the cost of cancelling the stream for themselves and gives the recipient the opportunity for a withdrawal. In essence, the commission provides insurance against potential issues that may arise due to a lack of funds required for further actions after stream creation.
